Collaboration is the new currency

Namaste! Welcome to 'A piece of my learnings' Tell me something, do you all like to listen to stories? I love it. Every tale imparts a valuable moral, and I have learned from them. One of my favorite stories was the rabbit and the tortoise story. There was a song in the Marathi language which I would listen to frequently. But recently, I heard about the extended version of the story.

In the story, the rabbit and tortoise are competing against each other. The rabbit hops quickly towards the finish line as the tortoise moves slowly and steadily. Unable to see the tortoise, the rabbit decides to take a rest before reaching the finish line due to overconfidence. The tortoise keeps walking slowly but steadily and wins the race. You all are familiar with this much, correct? But, do you want to know what happens next?

Once again, they set out to compete with each other. This time the rabbit does not stop till the finish line. This time the rabbit is the victor. What does this teach us? If we have a goal, we must not rest till we reach our goals.

But how to decide who is better than whom? They agree to make the competition more challenging as they approve a new route. The race begins, and both are marching toward the finish line. The rabbit realizes that there is a water stream in the path. Unable to swim, the rabbit decides to take the longer route around the stream, and they both finish simultaneously.

They both sit down for discussions once again. While they are discussing the route, they both realize something.

The tortoise says, "What if we combine our strengths?"

The rabbit replies, "You read my mind. Let us try to reach the finish line by combining our strengths."

The tortoise climbs the rabbit's back as the rabbit hops along the path. Once they reach the river, the rabbit gets on the tortoise's back. The tortoise swims across the water stream. They clear the finish line in almost one-tenth of the time it takes for them individually.

Isn't this interesting? I believe our lives are similar to this. We all are running to achieve something. Often, we come across people who are traveling towards the same destination. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. Instead of competing with other, if we collaborate with each other or help each other out, won't we reach our destination faster.

Collaboration is truly the new currency
