Bollywood movies that taught me about friendship!
August 06, 2022
Yaaron Dosti Badi Hi Haseen Hai, Yeh Na Ho To Kya Phir, Bolo Yeh Zindagi Hai
Koi To Ho Raazdaar, Begaraj Tera Ho Yaar, Koi To Ho Raazdaar
These words of KK always fill my ears and heart whenever I think about my friends. Such a sweet bond we carry which is different from any other relation, yet very strong. I want to dedicate this blog to all my friends without whom this life would have been a lot difficult. I want to present the Bollywood movies which changed my notion of friendship. Namaste and welcome to 'A piece of my learnings' friendship day special.
Sholay (1975)
Jaan pe bhi khelenge
Tere liye le lenge
Sab se dushmani
Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge
Todenge dam magar
Tera saath na chhodenge
This is one of the most watched Bollywood movies. The Jai-Veru duo has become synonymous with best friends forever. The first song that comes to mind when someone is asked to dedicate a song to their friends is 'Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chodenge!' My key takeaway about friendship was that I should not back down from doing something for my friends no matter how ugly things turn out to be.
Yaarana (1981)
meri zindagi sanwaari
mujhko gale lagaa ke
baiTha diya falak pe
mujhe khaaT se uThaa ke
yaara teri yaari ko
maine to khuda maana
yaad karegi duniya
tera mera afsana
A friend who gives away all that he has to see his friend's dream come true! Do such friendships exist? Even though my brain does not contemplate this; my heart surely believes that such friendships exist even today and will continue to do so in the future. My key takeaway about friendship was that I should be one of the biggest cheerleaders for my friends and help them achieve their dreams.
Dil Chahta hai (2001)
Masti Mein Rahey Duba Duba Hamesha Samaa
Humko Rahon Mein Yuhi Milti Rahey Khushiyan
Dil Chahta Hai Kabhi Na Beete Chamkile Din
Dil Chahta Hai Hum Na Rahey Kabhi Yaaro Ke Bin
This Akash-Sameer-Siddharth trio was on the mind of every Bollywood fan in the early 2000s. A road trip to Goa and a picture on top of Chapora fort were added to everyone's bucket list since then. My key takeaway about friendship was that no matter how life decides to test my friendship, in the end, it will come out strong.
Rang de Basanti (2006)
Mujhe toh lagta tha hum kisi cheez ke liye ladd jayenge aisa jazbaa hi nai hai humare andar
Brilliant storytelling to show what the freedom fighters of contemporary times look like. A unique group of people brought together by circumstances yet become the best of friends because of their goal. Where do we find such friends who will happily give away their life to stand against the injustice that happened to one of their friends? This movie made me realize what is that I am prepared to do for my friends and what I am yet to prepare for.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara (2011)
This movie came out when I was in college. So, I have a different level of love for this movie. Kabir-Imran-Arjun-Laila, the bond these people develop on a road trip through Spain gave me several life goals. I have watched it several times with my friends. I have done a separate movie review for this which you can check out here. My key takeaway about friendship was that 'Kuch logonke saath waqt beetane se sab cheezon ke jawab mill jaate hai'
This was just a list of my favorite movies which I love to watch with my friends. What more can I talk about friends that hasn't already been told. I just want you all to please hold on to such friends who played an important part in your life. If you have lost contact, reach out to them and talk to them. Apologize if things are not going well. I am grateful for each and every friend who is a part of my life. Sorry for all my mistakes and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
