Build a strong personal brand as an entrepreneur

September 23, 2023

Personal brand is necessary not just to show who is the hero in the movie but also in creating a successful business and to differentiate yourself from the competition. Bollywood, the Indian film industry, has a treasure trove of stories that can inspire and guide entrepreneurs in their quest to build a strong personal brand. When I was talking with my mentor, he told me about 3 things which are required to build a successful personal brand. There are 3 movies which impart these 3 values in a unique way. Namaste and welcome to 'A piece of my learning'. In this blog, we'll explore those three Bollywood movies that offer valuable lessons on personal branding for entrepreneurs.

1. "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year" - The Power of Integrity

"Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year" tells the story of Harpreet Singh Bedi, a young and honest salesman who starts his own computer repair business. This movie underscores the importance of integrity in personal branding for entrepreneurs.

 Lesson 1: Uphold Integrity

Harpreet's personal brand is built on honesty and ethical conduct. As an entrepreneur, it's crucial to maintain integrity in all your business dealings. Upholding your values and principles will not only earn the trust of your customers but also set you apart in a competitive market.

2. "Wake Up Sid" - Embracing Authenticity

"Wake Up Sid" is a coming-of-age film that revolves around Siddharth, a young man who discovers his true passion and calling in life. This movie teaches us the significance of authenticity in personal branding.

 Lesson 2: Be Authentic

Entrepreneurs should aim to be their authentic selves in both their personal and professional lives. Siddharth's transformation from a directionless student to a photographer who follows his passion exemplifies the power of authenticity. When your personal brand aligns with your true self, it becomes more relatable and appealing to your audience.

3. "3 Idiots" - Fostering Innovation

"3 Idiots" is a heartwarming comedy-drama that revolves around three friends pursuing engineering. The film emphasizes the importance of innovation and thinking outside the box.

 Lesson 3: Foster Innovation

In the world of entrepreneurship, innovation is a cornerstone of building a strong personal brand. The character Rancho in the movie is a prime example of an innovative thinker. Entrepreneurs should constantly seek new solutions, challenge the status quo, and embrace creativity to stand out and make an impact.

These films remind us that integrity, authenticity, and innovation are essential elements of a strong personal brand. By incorporating these lessons into your entrepreneurial journey, you can build a personal brand that not only resonates with your audience but also contributes to your long-term success. So, as you embark on your entrepreneurial adventure, let Bollywood's storytelling inspire you to craft a personal brand that truly reflects your values and aspirations.
