Namaste and Welcome to 'A piece of my learnings.' In today's blog, I want to talk about a movie 'Shabaash MITHU' that lauded the sports icon, Mithali Raj. Every movie has two aspects. One is the artistic point of view that talks about the cinematography, portrayal of characters, the storyline, and so on. The other is its intention or the message it wishes to convey. I like to talk about the latter. So let us get on to the movie review.

    The movie 'Shabaash Mithu' starts with a crucial message. Young Mithali is learning the Bharatnatyam dance form. She is dancing to a Sanskrit poem that translates:

Where attention goes, the heart follows.

Where the heart is, happiness follows.

    I ardently believe in these lines. Whatever you pay attention to, your heart will be in it, and happiness will follow. If you pay attention to your health, you will find happiness in exercising, eating healthy, or setting up a good morning routine. So make sure that you are paying attention to all the important things in your life.

    When Mithali is very young, she has seen her brother play cricket but never imagined herself doing so. But, young Mithali is shown that dream by her best friend, Noorie. Just like Mithali, sometimes, we fail to see our potential. But, we all are blessed with people who can identify that potential in us and show us that big picture. It is okay to not realize what is happening to you at any point of time in life, but you must be open to ideas from people who believe in you. You might never know what potential they see in you that even you could not see.

    As the movie progresses, Mithali faces several challenges and low points in her journey. One of the things she learns from her coach is

The Cricket playground is just like our lives. 

No sorrow or challenge is big enough to stop us from playing.

    Such amazing words. You might think that your problems are the toughest or that you have been dealt a bad hand. But some people have it worse than you. You must be grateful for what you have and never belittle anyone's journey.

    Mithali's idol turned coach is trying to compete with her. Mithali's response to her coach is

A fan can never win against their idol but can only learn from them

    This taught me two things. You must always be humble. Respect the challenges of your mentors or mentee equally and try to understand their points of view.
