Mindset is the greatest asset of an entrepreneur

September 19, 2022

Many people think that being an entrepreneur requires a lot of things. It does. The requirements are simple but not easy. One of the aspects you must be willing to work on is your mindset. Let me tell you how your mindset changes your outcome.

Namaste and Welcome to 'A piece of my learnings.'

One of the leading slipper manufacturing companies is in dire need of new markets. They come to know about an unexplored offshore island with a sufficiently large native population. The company decides to send two of its best employees there to do a survey.

The two employees visit the island. They stay there for a few days and return to the company with their separate survey.

The CEO asks both of them to provide their surveys one by one.

The first employee begins his survey with a disappointed look.

He says, "I am sorry, boss. I don't think we have a market on that island. All the native people living there are uneducated and wild. They roam around the island with naked feet. I do not think that anyone on that island will be willing to purchase any slippers from us."

The boss is disappointed. But before making any decision, he asks the other employee what did he come up with in his survey.

The other employee jumps in excitement.

He says, "Boss, I think this could be our biggest market so far. I agree that the native people are uneducated and wild. But no one has ever told them about the need for wearing footwear.

A certain amount of the population is suffering from diseases caused by wild vegetation or animal bites on their feet. If these people are given proper education and awareness are raised, everyone will be willing to buy slippers from us."

This employee later becomes a very successful entrepreneur due to his mindset and vision to look for opportunities.

This story taught me two things.

We must develop our mindset to look for opportunities. All the opportunities will not knock on our doors, we have to find and grab a few of these opportunities. It is not a God-given gift. It is something we can develop by reading books and the content of successful people. It is simple but not easy as I mentioned earlier.

Develop a mindset to look for opportunities by reading books and the content of successful entrepreneurs.

The other thing I learned was that the only way to succeed is to add value to other people's life. When you add value to someone's life, they become a part of your team, and together you can achieve many great things.

The only way to succeed is by adding value to other people's life.
